FIVEBUCKS promo cancelled.

Hey Guys,

Just a little more info on why we had to stop this weekend's promo a little bit early.

A handful of users placed multiple orders (in violation of the promo rules). We anticipated this, and were set up to delete the orders of people who were trying to take advantage of the offer. Unfortunately, we ran into some problems automatically deleting the orders. With some users placing tens and tens of FIVEBUCKS orders, and others creating tens and tens of fake usernames
... the situation got out of control fast, and we had to stop the promo.

We're very sorry to have had to stop the giveaway because of a few people trying to take advantage. We'll try to make it up to you with future promos and lots and lots of love.

Acar, Matt, and I are writing code for new Penguin site at this very moment. We're excited about giving you guys all the new features you've been requesting.

Hey, what is up with this, you guys took my money on Friday, but did not ship it, but actually deleted my order. Thats fine deleting it. However, I don't appreciate you guys taking the money. The bank account shows the transaction completed several days ago, and yet you have not answered any emails or phone calls. This is obviously not a hand full of jerks who were causing problems. Obviously someone did not think this promo out fully, and now you are holding people's money and deleting their orders...without shipping as your "if it doesn't ship today its free" moto says. Especially since my account shows the money absolutely withdrawn. This is very disappointing. I expect better from you guys. And at the same time...no thank you jerks who probably were more than a hand full, because if it was only a few, then you guys would not have cancelled the promo. FALSE ADVERTISING, POOR PLANNING, and INCOMPLETE BUSINESS TRANSACTIONS...not looking good.

Well, you can only expect that to happen, when catering to a young audience. But I thought that it was a great promo, five bucks off anything... You should do something like that in your Christmas special, give away gift certificates instead of just other magic tricks. That way people can choose the tricks that fit their style and skill level.

Why not just run a promo which is only open to customers who have placed an order in the past, or are members of your newsletter?
