If you're into Street Magic get ''How To Do Street Magic'' or if you like cards I would get Crash Course 1 and after that 2.

welcome to the penguin forums :)
if i were u i'd pick up "royal road to card magic" and "bobo's new modern coin magic" since i think u said ur just beginning magic. these two books will teach u the basics in card and coin magic, and contain well over a year's worth of practicing.

I used to practice magic 15 or so years ago and recently decided to get back into it. I have used both E-llusionist and Penguin to pick up tricks, etc. They both have some great stuff. I feel that for the money the starter set from e-llusionist gives you quite a bit (How to do street magic, Crash Course 1, and Inside Magic + some freebies). Penguin's Born to Perform is also great, and they have tons of others that get great reviews. I have read Royal Road to Card Magic. It is the bible of card magic but it can be extremely confusing at times, so definitely get the videos to supplement the book. E-llusionist and Penguin sell different versions at about the same price, so check and see which people seem to like the most. My advice is to figure out what you would like to learn first (coin, cards, mentalism, etc.) and pick up something in that category that fits your budget. Learning magic is not something that happens overnight so sit down and decide what is most important to you now, and you can learn more later.

May i recommend "The Bat"? Ellusionist sells nearly the same thing for $80.00 but Penguin sells it for only $17.00! Its a pretty good effect. I usualy carry around "The Bat" and my Raven. Jumping Gemmini is a good card trick aswell.
