Its not just the tricks that get you the tips. A big part is your presentation. And if your new or young or even both, dont expect to get tips. Just because you have a few tricks doesnt mean your ready for street or busking. I dont really know what your expecting to do or expecting to get.

But a great magician can get a "tip" with any effect.

The mall will have rules, They can kick you out and could press charges. Thats private property.

And yes most citys have laws on that. Its always best to check out local laws.

you will have to check it out in your city. I dont live where you live so i cant tell you. You will have to do some work for your self.

Pen through dollar - Depends on the version you have, and how well you perform it, but I would say this was a good choice for street magic.
CardToon - Depends on your audience. I don't like this effect, because its like shouting "Hey, look what I got at a magic store"
De-Kram Deck - Not a routine, more a tool, depends on the routine you apply it to. If you are doing pick a card -> name it, no, its [edited].
Ghost Glass - Not that suitable for street magic.
Sponge Balls - Good choice, depends on routine and your ability.
Dlites - Unless you plan on performing on the inside, or in the dark, a bad choice. Also, not really a full effect, I would use it more as a flourish in a trick, rather than a trick in itself.
Rising Card - So many versions, all suitable for different venue's. I personally don't find that the rising card does it for me, but hey, your specs may like it.


Oh, tips are 90% presentation, 10% magic.

Think of it this way :

o You can do the best magic in the world, but if you are an [edited], noone will tip.
o You can do the worst magic anyone has ever seen, but if they think you are a genuinely nice guy trying to entertain them, they may tip.

This is just a person who is entirely lay to street performance, giving his own view on this. I will eventually perform on the street, but I will perform when I am ready.

Yep, you don't say where you live or even what country you are located in and the laws on busking are so different between jurisdictions that no one can tell you.

Also, listen to binary. The tricks you mention are lousy in themselves, but busking is not the magic. It is the entertainment. If you can entertain people you can make money. If you just do tricks, you become a real hemroid to the crowds and they will step on you like you were a cockroach.

Tricks aren't usually "tip worthy" or not.

What IS tip worth is YOUR PERFORMANCE.

Are you entertaining? Boring? Ridiculous? Funny? FUNNY? (Funny is money!)

Worry about a good act - then get your law degree.

As for the mall throwing you out and "pressing charges" - most people who give legal advice on internet message boards have never read the law themselves.

You'll have to read the laws for your own state or local jurisdiction.

Better yet - GET HIRED to perform. What a concept - actually having value in ourselves and what we do.
