If you cant do any good effects with a normal deck, then you probably shouldnt be doing any magic for anyone

Well for a start you shouldn't mainly rely on a gaffed deck, you need to learn some slieghts/forces with a normal deck of cards so if someone does want you to use thier deck of cards, you can.

I recommend you buy jay sankey's anytime anywhere, it has some easy killer card effects in it.

do it! do it!! DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

ok if you want some real help this is the best i can offer, never repeat a trick, and if somone pop that ok use my deck thing, then simply do this take there cards, and do an alternative trick. you do not need to explain yourself, but if they ask say somthing short and sweet like. the first time its entertainment, but the second time it becomes a puzzle. if you dont know any tricks with regular decks then you shouldnt be prefoming except infront of a mirror!

good luck

One more simple yet effective idea that I use is to tell them this:

"Now, I will only perform this one time, so watch closely"

Do your trick, the end.

quote: Get away from the gimmick cards and learn the basics.
Learn how to force a card.
Learn how to do a DL.
Learn how to palm a card.
Learn how to do a top change. :endquote

whats a top change??
(if you dont want to, dont tell me how its done, but at least tell me what it means, or how it is used)

The name pretty much explains it. You "change" the "top" card of the deck.

Ha, there's a funny story about this! I was asked to do the same, so I accepted. He then took out a deck of cards with a large hole through the middle of the deck!

I hesitated, but then leapt into a whole routine which blew the guys away. I was still confident enough to do DLs even though I could have easily been exposed.

The moral? You can use other peoples decks, as long as you have enough confidence to do everything you have practised on other peoples decks. To gain an advantage, don't just use the same type of deck all the time; the use of different decks should accustom you to using other decks.

:D

Just learn alot of impromptu tricks and you will be all set. This has happened to me before and I usually do C.A.A.N. from Danie Garcia's Project Vol 3 or if I really want to blowthem away I use Stigmata.

And I agree the On The Spot DVD is great.

o duh i dont know why i did'nt think of that, but what should i do if its not the same colour deck?[/quote]

Improvise.
A good card magician will be able to "pull something out of his hat" when a spectator proposes a challenge.
Learn your basic sleights, and don't use gimmics very often-
when you do, be sure to have something alrady prepared for a spectator challenge, or a request o examine the cards.
