Go to Youtube and check out Sonny Holliday's sidwalk show. He does a 3 minute sidewalk show with a cigarette and picks up a nice hat. That's how you busk.

Heh. Thanks for the info Peter. :) It's great watching Sonny's work. I enjoyed his show in Cellini's Art of Street Performing DVD and it was good to see his work again on Youtube. :D

I saw him in Zurich, at the Theatre Festival. He has the right approach, uses cards, rope and cigarettes.

But most importantly, his routines are quick and adaptable. It fits most situations and he is quick to get a hat. His routine lasted about 5 or 6 minutes and then he would take a 2 or 3 minute break until the crowd disappeared. Then he would start back up again.

During the performances I saw, he probably was making about €50 every 10 minutes.

This is a great lesson for the "Blainiacs" out there. Sonny's routine WORKS and has worked well for 30 years or so. You really don't need to accost someone and have a camera crew to perform real "street magic"

I could have given the site myself, but I figured that it was too easy for me to just give. If you had to work to find it you may pay attention.

If you're on dial-up like I am and have to wait 10 minutes for the video to load, the end effect is much the same.

Yeah, that one that you put up oz was really good too. He got a huge crowd going with him, he prolly got a nice size hat after the show. Both great performances.

That's a great testament to Gazzo's teaching. Start with a time-tested routine and go from there. Good job Todd V!
