I've performed for my class, my parents and friends but I want more. I was just wondering if it's good that I already go (I'm 14 now) on the street to perform my magic or should I wait. That I get my experience in another way???

OK, that's what I'll do

Volunteer.

Goto a children's hospital and perform free for the kids.

Ditto at church.

Ditto at local daycares.

Sundays at the laundromats in your area - DOZENS of bored people.

At the park.

Etc.

go accost strange people on the street.

Perform with animal in the zoo

No, i just kidding. I often perform with people in restaurant who waiting for their meal. Be careful! They can eat your hand, they are hungry right? Hahaha... I just kidding again man.

I am 13 now. I have a suggestion.Maybe you better perform with random people in park or street. It can help you to reduce your nervous when performing...

Pick your spectators carefully. You don't want to end up with a bunch of gangsters.

Well, we are going on vacation in a couple of weeks... Maybe I can start performing for people waiting there? Or isn't that a good idea? What do you guys think?

It sounds like a great idea. I love performing out of town because if the performance sucks, there's nobody to say "He's not good" a month later because you don't know anyone. When you're out of town is the perfect time to practice and see how you act and react to different things.

AkiraFist always gives good advice with street magic.

I'd recommend learning some impromptu tricks with normal objects (coins are great) that way you'll always be ready to perform. People will feel more comfortable if you approach them with some quarters for a magic trick than odd objects

Remember to be a person first and a magician second. That's like my motto. Go out and enjoy your time, and perform a little if you get that chance. Don't go places to just perform until you have the proper experience, age, and level of loneliness (JK! )

It might be good to learn a flashy, attention getting move like the coin roll or something that will attract people. Then you can introduce yourself, make some small talk, and show them a trick. That ends up happening to me a lot, actually.

It was pretty good. I did it to some chinese lady while my mom was getting her nails done at the mall. I was sitting there with some cards practicing my flourishes and she was like "cool". I smiled and said choose a card. I was shaking beyond belief at this point. The trick was an ambitious card routine. It worked out well which made me confident about myself and my magic. I then did a simple french drop. I still remember that day. It was an amazing obstacle that I overcame. Overcoming the fear of performing to strangers is essential to be a good magician. Just go out and try it one day. It'll all be ok if you practice.

Approaching people for magic is like approaching girls to pick them up. There's no sage advice that will remove your nervousness, or make you 1000% better, you just have to approach people over and over, come home and analyze what you did wrong.

Then repeat. Again and again.
