Let's see your effort at a new impromptu levitation then. I gave it my best shot, you have to give credit for that at least. Sorry it isn't your cup of tea.
If THAT is your BEST shot, you're in trouble. What people are telling you is that your trick is obvious and even something a child might do. The obnly positive comment I saw was a smartass remark by DarkBeam that you took seriously.
Instead of thinking about silly ways to levitate, which in itself is a really dumb trick, practice sleights, practice palming sponge balls then coins after you have mastered that, then look at more complicated sleights like sleeving.
I find this very insulting. What kind of magic authority are you to have the nerve to try to educate another magic student? NONE of us here have the right to educate others because as it stands, most of us know nothing about magic... this was a lesson taught to me by one of my dearest friends in magic and I direct my magic in such a way, with the mentality that I am still a student and not in any way an authority. If all of you stopped the stupid ego-trips and stopped acting like you're all 50 year old magic philosophers when in reality most of you are just teenage magic students, that would be a big first step into improving magic today. Because as it stands, magic has never been on a worse path, with things like Theory11, Ellusionist, and Criss Angel ruining the magic scene. Gone are the days when students would pick up a frigging book and learn something good... instead, Ellusionist and Theory11 have taken over and are, in my opinion, the reason most magic students act like know-it-alls. If you even considered picking up a useful book like Maximum Entertainment, Strong Magic, Stars of Magic, Five Points, or The Vernon Chronicles then maybe, just maybe, it would occur to you how stupid your magical path has been since Day 1.
Before you jump on this, I did not at all mean this for every single member here. There are some really knowledgable respectable people here and this was not at all directed to them. Those to who this is directed, you should know who you are.
Anyways, about the effect... This is just a humble little idea, not even up my alley, but people that use it really like it and use it to great effect. I am now pretty much strictly a card technician, so this is not something I perform.
I didn't mean that this effect was my overall best shot at all... I meant it was my best shot in finding a solution for another convincing impromptu levitation. Why I even tried to find such a solution, I do not know... It was summer, I was drinking Red Bull, and these things just happen.
RANT OVER.
