This is mostly for DaveV, paddy, RobertBloor, and any other buskers I missed (sorry guys).

I searched the Cafe (not the green room) and I looked for the best 3 Shell Game resource to learn from. However, all I could find was that Sal Piacente's DVD wasn't that great.

Could you guys point me to a good book, video, or anything to learn the 3 Shell Game?

Edit:

I found this DVD which I think should be pretty good, if Whit's name is on it. Plus a Phil Cass DVD which comes recommended from Whit as well.

Go to Whit Haydn's site, the school for scoundrels. He has the BEST shell game info around, a lot better than Piacente's.

Yes, that first link is Whit's teaching. It's a "must have" if you want to learn the shells properly.

Sal's teaches the basic moves and leaves you hanging, not showing how to put them together into a "routine."

The Phil Cass DVD is good, but mainly for the presentation, not the teaching. That one's essentially Gary Oulette's routine with Phil's hard line approach. It uses just the basic moves but messes with the people's head to essentially bully them into betting with him.

Another good one (so far only available on VHS, not DVD) is Bob Kohler's "Golden Shells" routine. That's the routine that Whit bases his on. It's a well structured exhibition routine for magicians, but not necessarily good for con men or "real" games. Again, Bob goes over the basics, but only glosses over some rather important points which puts this video in second place after Whit as far as "in depth" teaching goes.

BTW, Whit doesn't teach Kohler's routine, but he has Bob Sheets teach and explain an excellent starter routine instead.

The Phil Cass routine is pretty good. It's a handling of Gary Oullette's Super Shells routine, but as Dave said, the teaching does assume you know the basics. Really, you've gotten the best advice already, so I'll shut up and point everyone back to the top.

How is a demo going to teach me how to do a good 3 Shell routine? I'd rather learn from Whit Haydn and others who know what they're talking about.
