I was just wondering if anybody had tried busking in a mall and with what results. Do you recommend it?

This has been discussed multiple times.

It's a bad idea.

I agree, it's a bad idea. First, most malls won't allow it in the first place. The businesses there simply don't appreciate you trying to take business from them. And the mall management is going to be on the side of those businesses. Second, the people there won't want to be bothered. When shopping in a mall, the majority of those people, who have the money to give to a performer, are at the mall for a specific reason; they are looking to buy something they already have in mind. So you would just end up getting in the way of people, and anger them.

Yea, but go ahead and try. The thing to remember is when Mall Security tells you to stop, just tell them that you have every right to do this.

After you follow that advice tell us what the local jail looks like in your area. As Fallingblood indicated, trying to busk in a mall is dumber than just stupid.

Busking in Malls = Bad Idea

I got it. I live in Wisconsin and have been looking for places that are indoors to busk during the winter, as you have stated the mall is not a good idea. I will not try it.

Give the mall a call and talk to someone about it. You never know, maybe they would be okay with it.

Where in Wisconsin are you from? I'm from Appleton.

Well, correcting your spelling errors makes the post a tiny bit more legible, none the less, what on earth do you mean?

They say getting forgiveness is easier than permission so i think you should just go but thats just me. I live on a beach so as its getting warmer i can busk on the beach! :-)

I've busked in shopping malls. I found it great, however, someone who works at the mall had seen me on youtube and called me and asked if I could go there and perform some magic so I got permission and so on.
And I really enjoyed it!

If you are gonna busk in shopping malls you have to ask for permission, otherwise, it's a bad idea.

Getting one of the shops behind you is a good strategy - even if it's only a kiosk. If you're "working" for them, the mall can't tell you to leave.

Yes having a shop within the mall ask you is fine. However, if the store asks you to perform you MUST stay within the store and not stray into the public areas, they belong to the mall. Two, the store should pay you, so make sure that the store will allow you to hat the crowd.

Don't listen to him. All he does is spam to the point where you can't understand him. Plus, if he is as bad at magic as he is at spelling, he has no right to give advise on a topic such as this.

Does the same apply to you?
