How do you guys feel about multiplying bottles as a closer if there are other buskers there doing cups and balls and linking rings? Would it work alright? Thanks.

Paddy, I knew you would say that before I even read your post. That is probably one of the truest statements applicable to magic.

The only real problem I see is that people will hang around and get to watch you reset. The cups and rings both reset instantly.

Not really. Have you ever seen some of the top buskers? Look at Gazzo. What does he do? A silk and thumb tip, a tossed out deck, and cupsd and balls. Any of those difficult? NO, but it is Gazzo being Gazzo that makes him $300 to $500 hats.

That is not a cliche, it is a fact that a lot of the younger ones don't realize.

That wasn't what I was asking. I was asking if Multiplying bottles would be appropriate on the streets. The can easily get smashed, I assume. I don't currently own a set. Again though, I never implied presentation, just the trick in general, would it be good on the streets. I found Exodus' answer to be the most helpful because he answered my actual question.

My friend Keith Balloonatic , or "the great wilsoni" does multiplying bottles / passe passe bottles in the middle of his show (on the street).

I'll try to find footage somewhere.. Keith is legendary. He does it as a tribute to Sammy Davis JR .. (Keith looks and sounds just like Sammy)

. The cool thing is , you don't need to do it on a table if you don't want to.. When me and Keith were sharing pitches he did it on the ground.

here is a profile on keith http://sidewalkperformerswhoswho.blogsp ... natic.html

Anyway - Go for it !

Since it would be a closer, reset certainly isn't an issue.

Sounds great to me!

Work on an unbreakable performance and you'll have a winner.

I think Reset IS an issue when busking/street performing in general. The magic trick in question does require set-up and reset after a show.

This is a VERY visual magic trick to be sure. If you think you can pull it off outdoors and surrounded - good luck with that, but I would not do it myself.

The Multiplying Bottles require a lot of table space to perform effectively. I own this effect and I feel it's more appropriate in a parlor or stage venue.

Thank you very much everybody (mostly,) I will be sticking with the cups and balls.

ok now i'd like to know how many of these guys your taking advice from are really working the street... Besides PAddy, his advice is solid..

1) you don't need a table for passe passe bottles

2) reset really isn't an issue..
