I'd like to add a linking ring routine to a short busking act. What size is best for the streets? Also, it there a particular set I should look at or stay away from? Lastly, what's your favorite training DVD for rings?

Get the smallest set that will fit easily and smoothly fit over your head. Then get the World's Greatest Magic: Linking Rings DVD and learn Dan Harlan's routine.

Are linking rings really suitable for a street performance. It just seems off to me...

The rings work great on the street.

I've used Harlan's routine on the street, but would recommend Whit Haydn's Comedy 4 Ring routine, which was designed on and for the streets, and Cellini's Lord and Master of the Rings, which comes from Cellini, so you know it's for the streets.

I use Chris Capehart's ring routine. However I did find a DVD with Tom Frank's 5 ring routine done to a aprody of Poe's "The Raven." I am now rehearsing that for the street. Great stuff. It starts "this mystycal feat I now perform with solid steel in rounded form....'
