Card Dupery is a great book loaded with lots of original sleights, variations, and tricks, by the late J.K. Hartman. The book is filled with goodies that every serious cardman will appreciate.
Versatile controls, clever shifts, and overhand shuffle techniques are all throughout the first few pages, and the illustrations on every page make learning these techniques very easy.
The book then splits off into different sections, such as sandwich routines, tricks with Faro Shuffles, and Mental/Full performance pieces.
Before each trick is explained, a VERY THOROUGH history and background of Mr. Hartman's inspiration and credits are written. This allowed me to refer to older books and learn more from those references Mr. Hartman gave me. Brilliant!
A few highlightable tricks in this book are (note: this is only my humble opinion!):
-A Case for Change
-Cache and Carry
-and JK Hartman's version of Out of This World - in which the spectator deals all the reds and the blacks separately face up, but when they fail, the performer turns the cards around and shows that he was right all along, and one pile has all black back cards, and the other pile has all red back cards!
This book has so many innovative sleights and is loaded with creative thoughts, I cannot recommend it enough!
Paired with Expert Card Technique, your arsenal could be complete if you read and learn from Card Dupery as well.
10/10 without a doubt.
