I recieved Color Monte today. After about an hour of practice I got it down pretty good so I decided to test it out and I got a really great reaction. It's a really great effect as you probably have seen in the demo video but for the price it's awesome. I highly recommend it.

Is this effect a sleight of hand effect, and is it hard to learn?

Its just 2 basic moves you have to learn which are easy to learn and are well explained in the directions.

Josh is right. It's not that difficult once you get the hang of it. And the reactions are great. I did it 2 times today and the first time the guy was like "WHAT?!!! THAT'S CRAZY!!" Heh. So far it's my favorite trick to do.

The reason it is so cheap, is because most of us have been doing this trick for years with ordinary cards. I admit, the $14 card is hilarious, but with the huge array of monte tricks to choose from it's hard to make a final decision. All are really cool.

Since this is on the first page, I'll share a suggestion I've made on a couple of older threads regarding Color Monte. Replace the two "diamond" cards with a Joker (which you show as two Jokers) and a red Queen. The trick looks much better with real cards, and the impact at the end is even greater since the spectator has been seeing normal cards up to the very end. This is hardly an original idea from me, but was how I was shown the trick the first time at a magic shop in Tucson 12 or so years ago. Still a great trick after all these years.

I love color monti. I carry it at all times in my wallet. Since I also do a regular 3-card monti routine, (see Daryl's Video) I will use an 8 and a queen or ace. Highly reccomend it to beginer to learntwo basi slights.

lancer i agree, because of the "glossy" red and blue diamonds, my girlfriend thought the cards are specially prepared. i'm still practicing, because the second of the two special "moves" can look a bit odd and confuse specs (but not in a magical kind of way i guess)...
