Wow. I've just treaded on to the land of mentalism after having purchased Prism. I then found that I should purchase a set of ESP cards so that I can perform some of the effects from Prism. At first I thought about getting a pack of Bicycle backed ESP symbol cards but when I stepped into Tannen's the person behind the counter remembered me from the week before for purchasing Prism proceeded to bring out a very slick looking ziplocked bag. Inside was a manuscript titled Beyond ESP 2 and it also contained a pack of ESP cards. I saw that it was the same deck that Alain Nu used in his recent TLC 4 part mentalism series (The Mysterious World of Alain Nu or something or the other). The salesperson told me that it contained two decks of MARKED ESP cards (one set black backed and the other red backed) along with a few gimmick cards. Now knowing that these were marked cards which would always keep me one ahead I felt a sudden urge to spend more than my intended 5 dollars for this months Geni. I asked to read the back of the manuscript and there I read that "the new cards have been printed to the highest standard by the USPCC... the best set of Marked ESP cards I have ever seen (Nicholas Einhorn)." After reading that I just HAD to purchase Beyond ESP 2. I took a brief glance over the manuscript after I hopped on a train to catch my 1PM class and there I learned of the extremely subtle marking system. The marking system is ingenious. NOBODY would ever suspect that the cards have been marked the way they were. I then sunk myself in deeper into the manuscript and learned of some of the most incredible mentalism routines ever. You have a 3 phase 3SP routine which packs an incredible whallop. You first give a cold reading of the spec and find their selection, then you go into a second phase where you have a prediction card in an envelope which matches their selection, and for the final phase you and the spec both shuffle three cards each and place them down in a row. You then turn over your row of cards and the spec does the same and they will find that your row is an exact match of their row. Did I mention the ingenious marking system? It's incredible. The card stock themselves are very very nice (they may be casino quality stock) with an incredible finish to them. It's a very smooth matte finish. None of that glossy textured finish on regular Bikes. The cards also look extremely innocent and along with the card box, they truly appear to be authentic tools for the study of ESP and paranormal activities. For those of you who are looking into mentalism, are mentalists, or just looking for a great effect to add to your work, DO NOT skip out on this purchase. The routines alone are worth the price of admission. Knowing that the routines are added bonusses for the purchase of these gorgeous cards just knocks Beyond ESP 2 into the stratosphere.
