here is the effect

The performer borrows a ring and openly places it in the palm of his right hand. Slowly passing his left hand over the ring, it miraculously vanishes. Both hands are shown completely empty and the performer points his fingers at his neck. There, inside his shirt, he pulls out his necklace. Threaded onto the necklace itself is the original, borrowed ring!

i could do the same effect with my raven, but without a borrowed ring.

I purchased this effect 2 years ago. While I admire the cleverness of the trick, the truth is, this is not an effect that you can perform under real world conditions.

For one, you must perform it in a room with the "right " type of lighting.

Secondly, you must be very careful with the type of ring that you borrow. Some may not work with the gimmick. (Think weight ).

Third, there are a few angle issues to deal with.

In my opinion, there are better ring flight effects out there. Ones that will allow you to do them under real world conditions, minus the constraints that accompany this particular version.

As I mentioned earlier, I feel Mr. Fields has come up with a clever and somewhat original handling of this effect. However, this one just didn't suit me or my performing style.

I must also tell you that the cost of Flight 204 was not (in my mind) worth what I paid for it. This isn't to say I feel like I was ripped off. I realize that there are expenses in testing , marketing, and printing magic manuscripts. This one however, just didn't fill the bill for me.

I like The Morelli Ring by Viking magic. You may also want to check out Jeff Stewart's Ring Thing at www.mymagic.com It's a very inexpensive, yet convincing ring flight. Requires a 2 second set up and can be carried on you at all times. I personally have this . I like it very much.

The Morelli is very good also. At the end, the spectator has to unscrew the keychain to remove their ring. This one is a little more money, but I feel it's well worth it.
