I personally prefer not to use trick decks, or gimmicks of any kind. I feel that I can accomplish many of the things that gimmicks do with sleight of hand, and not only that, but I almost always end clean.

I want to be ready to go at a moment's notice; that's why I perform impromptu stuff. However, there is one gimmicked deck that I do carry with me - the svengali. It is a simple deck with an extreme amount of uses. Awesome.

[quote="tbwendt"]I love trick decks (used in moderation). Haunted Decks are da bomb at Halloween time. A haunted deck effect would be impossible without a gimmicked deck.

Check out Dai Vernon's Inner Secrets of Card Magic (part 1) pg.30

"The pack that cuts itself". It was originated by Al Baker but Dai altered the handling and such. When published it was renamed, "The Honest Magician". Quite frankly, I find it doesn't work as smooth as the gimmicked Haunted deck or with as much ease. It would take much more practice, but hey, with a regular deck, it's worth it. Very neat principle indeed!
