I'm considering purchasing this effect after seeing Darwin Ortiz use it as a finale to his ambitious card routine.

I'm always very hesitant to use gimmicks though. I like my stuff to be very, very clean or I don't like it. I understand the basic concept of how the effect works by watching some videos, but I don't know the mechanism by which it's accomplished.

I know the two cards can be handled by the spectators before the effect, but not after. When they're handling the cards is there anything about them at all that would stand out as different? Every way I can think of doing what's done would require one card to be gimmicked in some way.

So I guess my question is this: Are those two cards completely clean, or is one just gimmicked in such a way that it's undetectable?

They will never figure out the gaff. It's invisible. You should remember, most of the desire to examine things comes from magicians. If they look at the cards before the selection appears, they don't care to see them after the card appears.

As for the trick, it's been one of my favorites for a while. The cards stay in your pocket until the time you're going to perform, so you instantly reset.
