I think all the Dover editions have the same page numbers.

I didn't know there were editions that WEREN'T published by Dover. Mine has a different cover(the same one as the copy Oz is holding in the demo video) but the pages match up for me.

Funny thing, I was at the shop in Albuquerque last weekend. A couple of my students was asking which materials in Royal Road I thought were "must learn". I actually couldn't find anything that I didn't think they needed.

I agree X. I think they picked the right stuff to include, enough to give a healthy working knowledge of card magic.

Actually, it's a funny story as to how Royal Road came about. Hugard and Braue wrote Expert Card Technique first. When magicians read the book, they realized that they couldn't do a lot of the material, because there was no real source to learn all the basics. Expert Card Technique is essentially the early card work of Dai Vernon and his buddies, thought a lot of it wasn't credited. An easy example is the Braue Pop Up move, which was a Vernon idea, that Braue's name was attached too. The Lowey Top Palm is another, since it was called the Hugard Top Palm by a lot of people until just recently. So, there's the story. It was put out to help people that weren't able to perform the stuff in ECT. In the end, they wrote a more iconic and helpful book. That's why so much of the material syncs up perfectly. It wasn't designed to give people a great working knowledge or card magic, only to help them sell more of the original book.

Gotta do something with all this semi-useless information floating around in my head.

On tuesday I picked this up and have undertaken the same task. For the past 3 days I have been trapped in my house, flooded in from the massive Nor'easter that slammed the east coast. I have now read up to chapter 2, taken notes, and practiced everything within those pages.

Having a ton of fun and might post some thoughts here and there.

Keep it up and all the best,
-Chase

Not only do I think that what you're doing is awesome, and that these posts should eventually have babies with my review of RRTCM, resulting in the most awesome post regarding the book... EVER, but, it is also awesome to see you back around. It's good to have you back... and me, since I just returned from my "vacation" from this place. I thought I was gone for good, but something just keeps bringing me back...

Not likely haha, I'll be doing the Palm chapter next, maybe tonight or later this week.
