I'll describe the effect because I have forgotten the name:

Deck is shown face up and a card is selected and placed face up on table. A big deal is made of showing the deck and offering to switch the selection -- really a way to lock in the back color/that the deck is normal.

After the build up, the deck is put away and the selection is revealed with, "Why did you choose X" written on the back in magic marker. I'm pretty sure this is marketed in one version or another, but to be honest, I've long forgotten what the right name is.

Questions: I've been using different colored backs for the cards to put in a color change along with the prediction effect. But since I present as, "I am influencing your choice and there is nothing you can do about it..." I've been told it would be better to eliminate the color change because that ruins the logic of it -- moving it more toward the 'magic' end of the spectrum and away from the presentation I use. I need opinions on this.

The second question is a good deck switch. Right now, I offer the choice to swap cards if they want, which allows me to display several times. I then put packets away in the box and my deck switch is essentially just putting the gaffed deck in a pocket and then pulling out the other one 'as an afterthought'. This is OK, but I'm wondering if I might find something better, so I'm looking for recommendations. I'd need a standing or table switch and end clean so I can continue the routine. I also like to switch before the final display so that I can do a ribbon spread with the normal deck to lock in normal backs (no writing except on selected card). This means I don't have the built-in misdirection the reveal gives.

Bonus question: What is the right name for the effect?

Thanks.
