I'm going to have to be vague to avoid exposure. The problem is in distances. When you're doing it at the bottom edge, there's less room to clear, so it makes it easier for some people. I'm like you though, I can only do it from the top corner. It's a little more distance, but it gives you more control. One thing that helps me, hold the top edge parallel with the ground and put your hand at about 45 degrees. It makes the move really easy from that point.
