I was just thinking the other day that I need to learn some more card tricks that don't require gimmicks. I do a fair amount, however I really need to expand my repertoire. Here is my list thus far

What card tricks do you do and which ones would you recommend?

Paul Gordon's Card Startlers DVDs have like 50.

But one you didn't include that you must learn - Out of This World. The single greatest card trick, ever.

Harry Lorayne has TONS of material in his books that can be done with little to no set-up and only regular cards. You might want to check that out.

Back in time from sankey has got to be one of the best impromtu effects I know!!

To much to name really. Combining the Buck's flourishy style and Aron Fisher's effect construction created a brilliant cards across. I also use Tevo2.0 and Subway quite a bit. Touche' is What You Say is a great cutting to spectators card routine. There are a bunch of sandwich effects that are good for this. Daniel Madison has a really nice sandwich effect that requires no setup(other than getting two mates out of the deck) Search and Destroy is also on this theme.

You actually seem to have a good rep. of on the spot stuff. May I recommend you start to explore various four card effects. These all require some set up. Usually getting a four of a kind from the deck. You can always just go through the deck and find these cards or you can do a little set-up and start with a 4 card production.

Jack Synapsys- Earnest Earick
The Four Queens- Bucks(this will take a LONG time to get looking good but it is a lot of fun)
Doc Dailey's last trick-Doc Dailey I assume? One might think it was even his last trick!
Any ace control gambling sequence(I'm sure you already do a few of these.)

yeah theres basically thousands, but the ones that you already named are actually very good routines, so keep at them.

The [edited] Tracy Card Trick (basically Vernon's Fingerprint trick)

Thanks! yeah I have been working on a few of those. I do Weighted Aces, which is Gregory Wilson's version of Doc Dailey's last trick, and I am working on Wayne Houchin's version of Twisting the Aces.



Where did you learn this exactly? Does he teach it somewhere or did you just take the basic Invisible Palm routine and apply it to his presentation? Thats what I am also working on haha

Don't you all laugh at me for telling about this old card trick..

This is a simple trick, but devastivating in effect. It is really a TALKING TRICK, that guides a spectator or another to PICK the card you want them too. Add a couple false shuffles, let another spectator or gambler cut the cards (hitting the crimp), low and behold it looks like something that can't be done.

Okay, enough talk, here it is..

I pin point a card that I am going to use. Say the ACE OF SPADES.

I got the deck in my hand I know where the Ace of Spade is.

I false shuffle a couple times, put in a crimp,let another spectator cut the cards, and the put the card in a bag.

Okay, I TELL the spectators that there are four cards, the Ace of Spades, 2 of spades, 3 of spades, and 4 of spades. I tell them to PICK ONE. Now here is the term I use to GUIDE THEM TO THE ACE OF SPADES.

When somebody picks the 3 or 4 of spades, I reply, "that leaves the 1 & 2 of spades!! Where as if they had picked the 1 & 2 the first time, I would then proceed to tell them to pick on from that combo. In the end I guide them to the card I have pin pointed. Sometimes I would put the card 10 cards deep in the deck. Have somebody cut the cards, tell them to count off ten cards, and there was the card..I have won some bets of that trick and it always gets a rise out of everyone. When merely I am doing nothing but "guide talking".. And the false shuffles, crimps and putting the cards in a bag or somebody coat pocket is just for effect...

Again, I know this trick dosen't hold water up against the maze of tricks that you all have around here..
