As far back as I can remember I always pick out the magic shows that were upclose and the magician was always doing fancy cool stuff with the cards. The tricks themselves were cool, but also everything from the one handed cuts, the one handed shuffle, and various others. I really want that kind of control. Its seems Oz has it the way he is so fluent all the time, so I was wondering if anyone who has Stealing Pips, does it have any drills, or flashy tricks in it besides just the magic tricks.

Also, I'm looking for some new controls. I only really have one right now, and was wondering what others I coudl learn. Does Stealing Pips, or any other good books/videos, or anything have any good methods?

Also what is RRTCM? I am assuming it is the god of sleights? Yes I am quite new, and was curious.

what control do you do? I perform the in-jog overhand and then I throw in things like a double undercut, or some of lepauls controls.

While Royal Road To Card Magic by Hugard and Braue might not be the god of sleights, for only $10 bucks, it's one of the cheapest tickets to nirvana that you will ever find.

That's practically all you need to know--right there!

Down the road you might want to pick up the AoA series....I didn't see that on Roat's list.

One thing that I did was video tape everything you can and watch in slow motion how defferent people do a one handed cut, one handed triple cut etc... I have a good video of htat stuff but I can't remember who it is. If you want, let me know and I'll look it up for you.

I think that was because his list was designed for a beginner. AoA assumes a certain familiarity with magic sleights and jargon.

This is a great DVD for beginners. Very simple and easily understandable.

OK i just want to make a suggestion to penguin magic and Oz, Why dont you guys get together, and do some shoots sometime, or talk about it, and create some lessons, besides just tricks, i'm sure you'd get a lot of satisfied customers, if you made a video on let's say "card control" which lasts about 7 minutes or so, showing basic controls, double undercut, swing cut control, etc.

The soon to be released Oz DVD "Born To Perform" is supposed to cover that and other basics from what I've heard.

Yeah i've been hearing a lot about his new dvd born to perform, said it's gonna take a beginner and bring them to intermediate level. Also in this video he teaches the le paul spread, which is very very flashy and nice.


As far as controls, the guy who asked, Yeah buy royal road to card magic to start out, you'll learn some good controls for starting out, and they are good for using on your every day average people. I myself use the 12 down riffle out of rrtcm, and natural jog control, sometimes i use spread cull, and other times ill just do like oz does, cut little packets to the break. all are very deceptive.
