Favorite Non-gimmicked Card Effect

I'm curious to know what clean effects (e.g. borrowed deck, fully examinable, etc.) people are using to knock the socks off of their spectators. It seems like a lot of you are really into the Ambitious Card routines and 2/3 card montes.

Right now, I'm getting my best reactions from Harry Lorrayne's "Out of This Universe" It's such a great, simple effect, and so utterly impossible. It's especially cool since the spectator does most of the work and there aren't any 'moves' to speak of.

So I ask again, what is everyone using to stun their audience these days?

I've been working on the Professor's Trick That Cannot Be Explained. Harry Lorayne has a version in Close-Up Card Magic called Calculated Risk. I actually found Calculated Risk a bit easier, although it produces an effect just as stunning as Vernon's original trick.

I've got both books (Inner Card Trilogy & Close-Up Card Magic), and I'll have to agree that Vernon's effect is a bit more difficult. But I think the more you do it, the easier it gets. I like the effect because it keeps the magician on his/her toes. I haven't played with Lorrayne's method much, so I'll have to revisit it.

It's nice to have a trick that's always a little bit different, it keeps things interesting for the performer - and every once in awhile, you get a true miracle...

recently ive been having a lot of fun with Oz' Revolver. it gets great reactions and is easy to do.

I love doing productions -back hand, singles, doubles there all alot of fun (hard but fun).....

I have alot of fun doing the "Invisible palm aces". I get great reactions on that effect. I wouldn't say it's the best, but it's one I have a lot of fun with.

invisible passes in my ambitiousx card routine.

that, and a time machine effect with cards and writing that my friend and I put on the market under his name.

I like to use Oz's Twist and Shake. It is a great effect and gets good reactions.

There are many great card tricks out there with a normal deck. Remember that the most difficult ones to perform are not always the best. Here's what I like:

Triumph

Any spelling trick

Card and coins together

I do a one handed version of Triumph showed me by Jimmy Grippo at Ceasars Palace.

Any card trick where you don't need to touch the cards.

As I always mention, PERFORMANCE IS THE SECRET. Even the most simple to do, can be the best trick in the world.
