Greetings to all. Long time lurker, first time poster. The search didn't yield any results so I thought I'd ask. Does anyone have dry hands problem? Do you use lotions? If you do, what brands do you recommend?

Thank you.

Peace.

I once read an article by Simon Lovell that discussed that very problem. I was very interested since I have dry hands myself. He recommended the use of finger moisteners, such as "Tacky Finger", before performing. I use it, and it really does make some card sleights easier. These kind of products are readily available at office supply stores.

Talcum powder may help or even applying spray deoderant to your hands. This may help reduce the sweating.

Thank you Basil. I am going to try this stuff. I take it doesn't stain or otherwise ruin the cards?

Whenever I know I am going to perform card stuff, I always put some sort of powder on my hands to prevent sweating.

I have problems with my hands being sometimes too dry and other times too sweaty under different conditions. Yes, I am a genetic mutant. If my hands start to dry out and I need to perform a sleight, I will casually rub the side and or back of my neck, there is usually a little sweat there to make the move easier. Or if all else fails, I will simply lick my fingers. I know, it's gross, but hey it works. If my hands start to get to sweaty, I will place the deck down on the table and put my hands in my lap and wipe them real quick on my pants. Again, I know, it's gross but it works. You just gotta go with your gut instinct, if you think you can get away with it, do it. We're out there performing without a net guys and gals.

It certainly doesn't stain the cards. I'm not sure if it affects the life span of the deck, or not. Ever since I started to get my cards in bulk at Sam's Club (Costco is supposed to have the same deal), I haven't worried about that too much. I can't say that I've notice the cards get sticky after using the stuff, though.

Good luck.

"O'keeffe's Working Hands Creme" is the way to go.
That stuff is the best for dry hands. You just gotta rub it in all the way. :D :D

One last hint about the "Tacky Finger" stuff. I bought a really small plastic container of lip balm. I cleaned out the lip balm and filled it with the Tacky Finger. The cover screws on quite securely, so I can easily carry it around with me.
