The Glide is one of the easiet, most powerful and deceptive sleights in Card Magic. the Royal Road to Card Magic devotes an entire chapter to it.

Hover card is good but i think sneak a peak can only be done with one card so you cant do it to the same person alot

The glide is a way to make people think you are dealing one card when you are dealing another. This move is dealt from the bottom of the deck. Hope that cleared things up a bit.

As for your poll, definetely not sneek-a-peek I bought that and used it once, never to use it again, It is so heavily gimmicked it isn't even funny, and yes it's always the same card. So you can't do it twice to anyone or even with them around. Out of your choices I'd say hover card or club sandwich, I hear club sandwich is great for restaurant magicians, but I may be mistaken.

Just my 2 cents.

dont get any of those, get the AoA set or just the first volume, If not that then get the on the loose set. Dvds or books would be your best bet.

Get royal road at card magic. EVERY magician should know what a glide is. Before beginners buy anything they really need to get a good book.

Don't say it's easy! Too many people will read it and say, "Oh, the glide is easy; I don't have to practice it." People don't realize how easily you can hack the glide. I believe I read something similar to this in the Classic Magic of Larry Jennings by Mike Maxwell. If I may, I will quote a bit from this book. I feel it is wonderful advice and it can help many people out greatly.

Quote:
When you practice you should never execute the sleight more than twice in a row. Any sleight should imitate a natural action. Thus, you should alternate back and forth between actually executing the move and executing the actions of what you want your audience to think you are doing. Let's take the "Pass" as an example. If you stand in front of the mirror and execute the Pass thirty times in a row, you will stray so far from correctly executing it that you will be in danger of picking up bad habits. The Pass should appear as though you merely placed the upper packet onto the lower packet, and then squared the deck. If your Pass does not look like that, and only that, it will not be effective. So, atlernate back and forth. Execute the action, and then make the sleight match that action. You will see an improvement in a very short time.

- Mike Maxwell, 1986
The Classic Magic of Larry Jennings by Mike Maxwell, p. v

P.S. Go buy this book! It is absolutely wonderful, one of the best magic purchases I've ever made.

*End rant*

Oh, and MagicJoe, I didn't mean to jump on you, I'm actually glad you said that, because it brings up a very common issue in the practice and execution of all sleights, including the glide.

if you gonna get one trick i suggest get a club sandwich or hover card, don't get gimmick. As Traylen said, Sneek a peek is heavily gimmick, and it's true, you could pretty easy to get busted if you spread the card not carefully -----> i hate it....
