Hey guys, I was recently at an amusement park that has an old "arts and crafty" type theme (i.e. blacksmiths, glassblowers, etc.), and they have a pretty cool coin shop. I asked the owner if I could get some half dollars for my dollar bill. He gave me two, and told me that I was getting a good deal on them, because he had to pay about 75 cents for them. Now, to my question... these are 1996 American Half Dollars, with Independence Hall on the back of the coin. I was wondering if these are made with anything "special", or just look different. I don't need to know, just curious. Thanks for the help.

I have one of those, and I couldn't tell any difference between them and the ones with the eagle on the back. I don't like the looks of them though, the eagle is cooler.

I believe the only difference is that they are rarer, but I'm no expert.

I think I have one of those quarters. It's from I think the 70s to 80s.

Aren't they the bicenntenial* quarters. I have a bicenntenial silver and half dollar and one of the quarters with a drummer on the back.

I do have this 1959 half dollar that's pretty cool. It has Franklin on it instead of Kennedy.

Yes, they are the bicentennials. I believe they are also double dated.

The quarter I have is actually 1776-1976. It has a drummer on back.

I dont mean to be rude, but a lot of you guys dont seem to know anything about coins. lol. I collect them but i just started about a year or two ago, so as i know A LOT of things about most coins, I dont know everything. So those quarters with the drummers on the back are only from 1975 and 1976 but they will always say1776-1976 on them. Same thing goes with the half dollars, so there arent any quarters or half dollars with 1975 on them. As for the half dollars i know nothing about. Unless you accidentally misread the date and thy are from 1976 and are the bicentennials, i have never seen them.

Yeah, I usually spend more time practicing magic with them instead of researching about them.
