I've got an idea for a routine that's in here; the Coins Through Table routine.. Well I was thinking that maybe if you could get the spec to write their initials on the 3 coins that penetrate the table, it'd have a better kick to the effect. What do you guys think?

i never tell people to write their name on a coin, even in stuff like sinful, infusion, etc.

It's not weird at all. People actually like it, because it makes them feel special that they got to be involved with the magic. Plus, keeping the signed quarter will help them remember your magic.

Pinoy, if you want them to sign the coins, then they can do so. However, you'll ruin three quarters each time you do this, and if they are borrowed, it's not such a good idea.

That's true kraynik, I hadn't thought of the fact that I'd ruin the coins after the effect.. I was just focused on the reaction from the spec, because I agree with you that it gets them more involved in the magic itself. But yeah, thank you both for your input, I'll have to try it out sometime!

How would writing on a coin with a sharpie ruin them?

Have you never heard of Rubbing Alcohol or Isopropyl (sp) Alcohol?
It will remove sharpie from tons of things.

If you borrow the coins, let them sign them. You can still spend money that has been written on. If they are your coins, don't let them sign unless you want them to keep them, but that would be a pretty expensive trick after a while lol.

But drawing sunglasses, a baseball cap,and a handle bar mustache on a $20, and not having the cashier accept it, THAT, my friend sucks.

I keep hereing about this dvd, is it worth all the money and are there good tricks?

My problem is that the permanent Sharpie is NOT permanent on a coin. I have a coin transpo trick (from ITBTWC) that requires a pre-signed coin. Unfortunately, the sharpie tends to partially rub off in the pocket.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make the sharpie really permament on a coin?

Everyone that has it absolutley loves it. Personally, I think it's a waste of money if you can just get Bobo's Modern Coin Magic. For a 30 dollar DVD, you can get 35 sleights/tricks, or for a 10 dollar book, you can get all those plus hundreds of more, useful material.

If you're just starting coin magic, it's a great DVD. As Kraynik says, Bobo MCM is a great resource too. I have both and personally, I would start out with the DVD first. If you can afford both, get both. If all you got is $10, get Bobo MCM.

That's exactly what I did. I started out with ITGTWC and then got Bobo's MCM. The DVD is great for new people to coin magic, and the book reinforces/adds onto the stuff that you learn from the DVD. Both compliment each other pretty well.
