Best basic coin magic dvd

Hallo..
I search for a good basic coin magic dvd (Set).
I really want detailed explanation on psykology, misdirection and so on the vanishes...
Anyone who can recommed some different kind of basic coin magic dvds?

forget DVD's, go for J.B. Bobo's modern coin magic book. It is packed with coin tricks and sleights, and WAY lower in cost than a DVD set.

But if you must have a set... well i don't know, i have ITBTWC, and though i am not in love with it, its pretty good. I'm not fond with any coin DVD sets, perhaps someone else can answer that for me.

Check out www.CoinVanish.com for a very comprehensive review of David Stone's set, Ammar's video, and the Roth set. In the Beginning is a great video for getting started. That's what I'd recommend if you're looking for something fun to learn from. The Ammar and Roth sets have some major disadvantages for todays young magicians. First, they both look like they were shot in the 70s, if only due to Ammar's pornstar mustache.

I agree with the In The Beginning There Were Coins set, but you should probably get the Bobo's Modern Coin Magic DVD instead.

As has been said, you need to get the book Modern Coin Magic (if you can find the New Modern Coin Magic edition, that's even better).

If you really want DVDs, get David Roth's Expert Coin Magic Made Easy series. Most, if not all, of the others mentioned fall far short of what this set acheives.

Once you've really milked those resources for all they are worth (which will take quite a while), get Roth's book Expert Coin Magic, re-released last year by Richard Kaufamn, and his Ultimate Coin Magic DVD set.

Well.. Í saw Bobos book at google ibooks.. I can just read it there.. but i dont really like books.. becáuse they arnt that visual... u cant see a perfect retention vanish etc...
so far thanks for the respons... i got in the beginning there were coins... but i dont like it that much..

Why don't you just buy the books? It's wrong to read them online. It's not like it's an expensive book or anything. :roll:

I was going to suggest the In the Beginning There Were Coins DVD until I read that you have it and don't like it.

As for reading Modern Coin Magic on Google, it's better to have a hard copy version of it so that you can take it anywhere and read it anywhere. Excellent book by the way, so much of everything in it

You can't read the entire book in the Google book preview. Pony up and spend the $10.

Why didn't you like ITBTWC? It's a great teaching DVD so if you can't learn from that, you're going to have problems with Bobo and other coin DVDs.

You kids these days ... sheesh! ... how do you learn in school if not from books? If everything you learned had to be from visual aids only, you certainly wouldn't be getting much of an education now would you ?

I think the problem is: ... is that you guys say you can't learn from books because you don't want to put in the time and effort it requires to learn, period! ... and that's pretty sad !

So basically start off with Roth's first dvd http://penguinmagic.com/specialorderproduct.php?ID=4518 and once you've mastered that stuff move on to his second and third dvd's.

Stone's dvd's aren't essential if you are going to get roth's stuff but I really enjoyed both of his dvd's. And there is quite a bit to be learned from him. He is a very skilled coin magician. And a very skilled all around magician.

As far as "J.B. Bobo's Modern Coin Magic" goes. It's a great suppliment to any coin dvd you get. It's kind of a must have as far as coins go. It's only like 8 bucks and it jam packed with information. There's a reason that its called the coin bible. Even if you never read the whole thing (which I doubt many do) it's one of the best refrences you can have.

What exactly is "wrong" with reading a book online, one that is made freely and legally available?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Mr. Bobo has been dead for many years now, right? It's not like he's being ripped off....

I read MCM via the public library. I suppose that makes me a criminal? Please.

PS: Thanks SimonSor, for the books.google.com tip. It's been a couple of years now since I read Bobo's book (and found this forum), so it's nice to have a URL for handy reference:

Personally, I don't buy books at all, purely as a matter of principle. I can get any book ever printed through my local library's "interlibrary loan" program, and I do so on a regular basis. I recently enjoyed "The Books of Wonder, vols. 1 & 2" by Tommy Wonder et al. Amazing stuff there... highly recommended!

And just so you know, those two volumes were shipped across the country for me, because I requested them. For free -- your tax dollars at work. Apparently only 9 libraries worldwide own these amazing resources.... but I've seen them on eBay in the $90.00 range... knock yourself out if you're into that sort of thing.

i had purchased bobos book, but i didn't learn a lot mainly because i was overwhelmed with the amount of material ... i bought in the beginning there were coins, and learned all the essentials, and now i keep referring to bobo's book, it is the bible for coin manipulators.

I would recomend having Bobo's book as a reference, but I perform virtually none of that matierial. I will buy a DVD such as Sankey's Revolutionary Coin Magic or Joe Rindefliech's DVD or one that doesn't explain the slights. That makes more room for more and better tricks, and if they say, "Execute a Click Pass." or something, I can just look in the book if I don't remember.
