I want to be able to do some coin routines because I often find myself with a couple of coins at school and no real routines in mind. i don't want to excel in coin magic though, I like cards the best.

I'll be including:

Chinese Coins (sick of quarters)
maybe Coin Bite

Don't reccomend Bobo's book beacuse I'm a visual learner

I have Ammar's vol. 1 coin magic: VERY good, I may get volume 2 as well.

any other good reccomendations?

In my opinion, any Coin worker who doesn't recommend Bobo's book doesn't know what they're talking about.
The wealth of information it has is worth far more than it's price.
Where else can you get that much info on Coin Magic for $10-12 bucks ?

I don't think coin magic is for you...
Making coin magic look good is A LOT harder than "getting reactions" with card magic, and you sound like you just want a few easy tricks...
Imagine only performing card tricks that require you to palm cards all the time...
How difficult would that be?
You need a lot of confidence to be able to get away with pretty much every coin sleight out there because at any time someone could ask to see your other hand (that is if you're not confidence enough and your sleights aren't perfect...)

Drew is right. Modern Coin Magic has 510 illustrations, plenty of visual.

If you change your mind on not wanting to excel in coin magic, I highly recommend getting Fists Of Fury and Silverado by Curtis Kam. Very, very good coin magic. Very hard as well, but so much fun to practice and perform.

Then you should probably stay away from learning any coin magic. There is no sense in performing coin effects with mediocrity.
It would not be helpful to you, nor would it be entertaining for your audience. If card magic is your forte, stick with that.

I see what you are saying. When I said that, I really meant: "I don't want it to be my main thing" the stuff i'd do wouldn't be mediocre. But, I guess I'll keep clear for awhile.

Well, at least you are thinking things through. With some deeper thought, you could try to learn routines involving both Cards & Coins...like Matrix.
Or, Earl Nelson has a clever effect using one card and three coins which he calls the $1.50 Vanish. Then there is one I use quite often, where a Coin penetrates right through a Playing Card.

All of these can be learned through proper research. There are many different things that you could perform. Once you learn them, practice them until you are proficient with them. Incorporate all different manners of magic into your routine. You don't have to settle on just Cards.

But, as I mentioned before...if cards are your strength, then learn and grow your act with your deck of cards.

Looks like you want more routine type of magic...

If that's the case, take a gander into David Stone's DVD on coin magic.

Although it doesn't pack a lot of "sleights", he teaches you the essentials and creates whole routines based around your newly leaned sleight, plus the few you learned beforehand.

The DVD is different in that it teaches routines instead of single tricks. Combining vanishing with production.

If that's what you want. Stick with David Stone's DVD.

Just one. In the beginning, there were coins starring Jay Noblezada. You wont regret getting it. It is a great base for any coin magician, or just for a street magician. There is a lot of information on the dvd and it also includes lots of full routines. BUY IT!

EW! YUK!! If you are a visual coin worker, then i reccomend jay sankeys revolutionary coin magic and rev coin magic 2.0. there are weaknesses and strengths. for you i might recomend rev coin magic 1.0 because it teaches mostly tricks that are fast and easy to do plus he incorporates cards in some of them too. if thats good enough, swing by sankeymagic.com and buy 2.0 instead of penguins because jays dvds are down down down! he is always permanently dropping prices so you will probably find it at a measly 15$ but 1.0 is better for u cuz it teaches most of the very beginner stuff where 2.0 goes right into a goshman and doesent teach it really. but whatever works for you. 2.0 has more lighting and color so it might catch your eye better.
