Learn the slights, they will be the single most useful thing you know as a magician. Especially when your caught without cards or a SP or TT ect.
I actually can think of one trick that does not require any of the above. Can't remember the name of it, but I know it's taught on an "intro to magic" DVD by Michael Ammar. Uses 7 quarters, and the plot is about two thieves trying to steal a farmer's sheep.
I saw the trick performed on TV when I was a kid, and it fooled the heck out of me. Many years later, when I picked up the Ammar DVD, it fooled me again when Ammar performed it. It still brings a smile to my face just thinking about it.
All that said, in the end I agree with what people above have said. Get Bobo's book and/or Jay's DVD, learn the sleights, and you'll be much better off.
