I am just starting to learn the retention vanish. If anyone has any tips or advice I would really appreciate it.

A video of my retention vanish can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTUTIdW6rrQ

Thank you!

You cover your fingers up before we even see the ball in your palm... a retention vanish should make it so the spec SEES the ball in your hand first and then it disappears

btw welcome to the boards!

Good call. So what would be a good technique to make it better?

I know you aren't using a spongeball, but Jay Noblezada teaches a few good vanishes on SPONGE

If you can't get a DVD or book to help you, my best advice would be to analyze CLOSELY the way your hands look when you ACTUALLY put the ball into your hand. Then, after you know just how it would really look, find a way to retain the ball while EXACTLY SIMULATING the hand postures of actually transferring the ball.
