Hey guys! I am an intermediate card magician, however, a beginner coin magician. I am looking into some DVDs and such and just was wondering what you guys think I should get. Michael Ammar's easy to master money miracles looks cool, but will a beginner be able to handle it. I shouldn't have too much trouble with sleights as long as it explains the ones needed on the DVD. Also considering Bobo's book, but I just don't think I could handle a big book on coins. I am not nearly as interested in coins as I am cards, but I feel, as a close-up magician, I need to learn some coin tricks.

If you're a beginner at coins you owe it to yourself to start with Bobo's book, there's no better place to start!

Yeah I agree with frijid, bobo's book is great! I wrote a review on it in the trick review forum. Also, if you are an absolute beginner, I might hold off on ammar's easy to master coin miracles and get The Introduction to Coin Magic by Michael Ammar. There's tons of great stuff on it, Michael is an excellent teacher and it will also help you to figure out some of the stuff in the bobo book.

Yeah, the introduction to coin magic was what I was looking at right now. It seems kind of like Bobo's on DVD. Is this true? I'm not really looking to be an absolute master of coin magic, but just learn the basics.

hmmm.. I think there is some stuff that's not in bobo's book, but then there's a lot in bobo's that's not in the video... Well, definately get bobo's book, and if you want to get the easy to master coin miracles dvds, you will be able to do the stuff on it after you learn some of the basics from bobo's. I have vol. 2 from the coin miracles series and I think its great, so if you want it go for it! But just make sure you study up in modern coin magic.

I'd highly recommend Jay Sankey's "Revolutionary Coin Magic." There are a ton of tricks on that video, ranging from beginner-level to advanced.

I'm just starting out in coins and recently purchased Bobo's. You won't regret it.

Yeah definately get Bobo's book along with Ammar's Introduction video. They are all great resources.

I have both... Ammar's introduction to coin magic and Bobo's book. Everything you see in the video (manipulation wise) is in the book. The book has a lot more information in it, but the video gives you a nice visual of someone properly executing the basic moves.

I started off with the video and moved to the book. I was still hungry for more after I learned all the moves on the video.

I equate it to the cliche " a picture is worth a thousand words." I feel the book was easier for me to understand some of the moves and switches because of the video. There are pictures in the book, however theres nothing like seeing the full range of motion.

So to make a short story long.....

Wethere or not your deeply interested in the art of coin manipulation... I'd recommend starting with the video so you don't get fustrated trying to figure out some of the moves. Then if you still have an appetite for more, go buy the book.

The book in my opinion should cost more than it does for the wealth of information it provides and the video should be cheaper. I got the video on sale of 20 which is about the right price for the dvd.

The book should be in the 20-30 range, not 9.95. I've seen crappy little cheeseball books that are at the same price.
