Hi in my religion we have a festival called Diwali and these ppl we know throw a party every year but what they do is they have children under 18 do a talent show kind of. last time I wasnt into magic (i've only been once before) but now I am so I thought i might do a magic show. its on october 20th btw. does anyone have any advice as for what tricks to peform for maybe a 10 minute show? i figured I'd start out with STS then I would try to make something dissapear by showing a "silk" (rope to silk) and then they'd be like "its a rope" then I'd change it and do the dissapear by waving the silk over it but then i'm lost lol. any ideas?

my tricks:

pena coin
stealth pen
brainwave
dlites
hummer card
floating bill (floating anything small really)
umm i know some levitations but ppl on youtube say i suck so i probly wont do them lol
i know a ton of ordinary card tricks
color monte
STS - duh
rope to silk- duh
the raven
in a flash
i have a TT
scotch and soda

uhh i think thats it but which are good for a small show in front of maybe 40 ppl?

if you have to ask us what to perform then you are not ready for a talent show. you should already have a routine perfected before even considering any kind of show.
but with what you have, and if you are any good with them, i would do a dlite routine, and a TT routine, if you know one. good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Most of the stuff on your list is not cabaret/parlor magic...it is more in the strolling or walkaround categories. Consider how close the audience has to be to appreciate some of these effects; although they can be done as stand-up, you need to be fairly close...perhaps closer than than a parlor scenario will allow. Describe the actual performance space in which you will be working.

Pick a serious of efects that mix. Then you can make a routine out of them. Sts is kinda a stande alone effect.

Good luck,

Wow, lets get back on topic now. Umm, STS is definately not for stage magic, do you think they will actually see that? And if you do rope to silk and vice versa then you should have a rope routine down, or a silk routine down so they can flow naturally one into another. Btw, a lot of what you have isn't good routine quality. Are you even still here?
