sure, just hollow out some walnuts and then laquer them up to make them sturdy.

Yes, you can make them.

No, you shouldn't try making them if you already don't own a set of shells.

I bought a bag of walnuts from the grocery store. They are pretty strong. I just squeezed 'em with pliers. You might have to chip away parts to get it working smoothly. :D

It can take a little time making your own shells. And it will take some patience, but it can be done. Personally, I simply don't use this effect much. So I have just one set of shells, that have lasted me for a long time. I think you might as well just buy them.

just take some bottle caps and ball up a
rubber band for the pea. 8)
