Just picked up a copy of Ninja rings (from Penguin naturally) decided it would make a great addition to my repitoir, sat down and watched the performance segment and was drooling. It's an incredible routine. I was floored. I couldn't wait to get started. Shoot Explains his crash link and I get into it because it's just so different from what I've seen before so I practice that a few times, get the gist and move on. The spinning crash link. The very first link in the entire routine. I HATE that link. Is it just me or is this one an absolute [insert foul word here]? It's driving me bonkers. I have been at it for about four days off and on now, picking up the rings at random times through out the day, spinning trying to link, chasing the ring around the room, picking it up spinning it trying to link, pulling ring out of entertainment center, spinning it, trying to link, looking for the chip from my tooth... Anyone else have this much trouble with that stinking link? I know the answer is Practice but is it just me? Anyone got any ideas? Tips?

I guess I'm just annoyed because it's literally the 1st thing and if you screw that one up you're pretty much done. there's no real recovery from that.

Anyone else have any Ninja Ring horror stories?

I also have the Ninja Rings, and the spin link is definately not easy. I almost gave up, but listen carefully to what shoot says and you will get it correct.

I was in a competition which was going to be send on TV. When i did the spin link i missed it. I have thought of that earlier, so i just too the ring and rubbed it and said: Oh it is not soft enough yet. :D 8)

Hope i could help.

Get Jay Sankey's 3 Ring Circus, I find the sleights to be much easier.

Got it have it love it but it's no where near as beautiful.
Ninja rings to me is worth the effort.
I'm getting better at it but it's just taking time.

Keep working on it, Shoot doesn't hit it every time either.

Yes he does he's shoot.

Rules of the Universe:

1) Asians are better at everything
2) Shoot never makes mistakes

Therefore Shoot is Doubly perfect in accordance to natural law. And cannot make mistakes.

That trick just seems like more of a puzzle though.

you guys are bad for my attention span. The second I finished bruce's post I had to go and twist two of the key rings together and attempt ninja rings with the three ring circus rings.

When I finally get my fingers out of the cast....

Not the best idea I've ever had. It really doesn't translate well to key rings.

Hey Pookie i love 3 ring circus, I find you have to work it a bit more to add the magic to it so that it's not as you say just a puzzle. You're absoluetly right, straight forward presentation it's a flat out puzzle. here look, bam. haha you can't do that.
I'm still playing with it. I've performed it about 5 times so far and every time the reaction is great. I'm still not 100% happy with my handling so I'm still working on it but I feel the potential is there. Is it as magical as Ninja rings?

Not even close.

Took a few days off from the Ninja rings anyway, will be back at it tomorrow. Had to let that bruise heal. Thanks for the support.

The key to the Spin Link is the spin. If you spin it right, it's just like linking a ring that isn't moving at all.
