Morrissey Cups

Anybody have them? I am referring to the third item on THIS PAGE. I was thinking of getting Aluminum.

Right now I have a combo set by Uday, and they aren't bad - but the don't stack/sit right and the mouth is much too small.

So my questions about the Morrissey's are:

1. Do they stack well (do they sit straight or do the wobble)?

2. What is the diameter of the mouth?

3. What is the practical difference between the Large Size and Mini Size? (The website says that they have the same size mouth)

4. How is the quality?

Anyway, Morrissey is generally a good company, and the cups look alright. but I would look carefully at the picture of them stacked. They seem tilted to one side, suggesting that they have more than a slight wobble when stacked.

I don't know about the diameter, but it looks "average," if that means anything...

From what I have heard, you can not get a better cup for that price. You are better off searching through the Magiccafe for results on this question. Or just PM DaveV, he is a cups conniseur.

I PMed DaveV and he helped me out. But I also emailed Bill Palmer, THE man on cups (IMO) and this is what he said:

The I.D. of the mouth is about 2.5 inches. They will not take a tennis or a baseball.

The height. The Large cups are about 1 inch taller than the mini size.

They are somewhat light. In order to compete with the cups from India and China,
Morrissey has compromised by making them of a thinner gauge of copper.

No. My recommendation to you is that you save your money and get something decent. The
minimum cup for professional use, IMHO, is the Johnson cup. They will take a lacrosse ball,
which the Morrisseys will not do.

Figure out what size load you want to use. Then get the cups that will fit. The database can
help you on this.

If you look at the different balls that I mention, bear in mind what the relative diameters are.
Going from smaller to larger, you have golf ball, handball, racquetball, lacrosse ball, tennis
ball, baseball, softball. You can search by putting the size of ball you want the cup to take in
that spot in the database and it will return all the cups that will take that size.

Problem is, I would rather not shell out $250 on cups. I would rather buy Apocalypse, Magic Menu, or all 5 card Colleges because I am not THAT into C&B.

I just sent payment for a set of Paul Fox Cups in copper. So no Morriseys for me.

I'm wondering that too. You have a budget of <$70 and you buy Paul Fox cups? Where is this miracle deal? And do they have more?

I had emailed Mad Jake yesterday and told him about my cups dilemma, and out of total generosity he offered to sell me his Paul Fox Cups in copper for $70. So, without thinking twice I bought them.

Jake's generosity never ceases to amaze me!
