If you mean that you dropped the extra one or one hidden, it depends. You could make a joke by swatting it with your hand and yelling, "what are you doing here? I told you to stay home. " But you also could reach to pick it up and, using that as misdirection, hide one of your others and just continue with the trick. Most specs can't keep up with what you are doing, anyway. This is a great time to brush up on your self-effacing humor skills

And practice more. :D

Why? Are you trying to pretend it is an errant dust bunny and hope no one sees it? Do you point up and yell, "look the goodyear blimp?"

Now if the ball falls to the floor and no one saw it then that is different. So change your routine.

lol. Actually I do stuff like that if I want them to see something that is "fake" misdirection and I want to hide the real thing.

don't make a big deal out of it...just pretend that it was part of the routine. They don't know any better.

Dropped sponge ball? Nothing, Grasshoppah. How 'bout the time I was doing the "needle thru balloon" trick...and when I popped the balloon to show it was indeed "real", I hit the bride's Grandma in the eye with a balloon flap full of that needle lube-goo..she had cataracts too. No tip for the magician!

i've got a video that teatchs you a routine with 3 sponge balls so you always have a spare in your pocket soif you drop 1 use the 1 inyour pocket.
so i think make up a routine with just 3 balls and carry a spare ball

Jeff McBryde has a saying that he tells his classes. "Dare to suck." In short if you screw up, keep going on cuz probably your audience will not notice it. But learn from the mistake and polish you act up so that it doesn't happen again.
