I would start out with some Aluminums. They are affordable and look very nice.

I know him and hes a bigginer. So that is too advanced of a move. So I think Colorful works fin for a while until he knows that he likes doing the cups and balls

Don't get colorful ones! They are no good for learning sleight of hand. My first set was aluminum Morrissey cups. They don't sell them here, so get the aluminum ones sold here. They aren't that good quailty, but they look nice and they get the job done.

I just recently picked up a pair of Nice Penguin Cups. Very nice cups, i'll never need another set again. if you know you like cups and balls get the penguin cups that way you wonthave to replace them.

I ordered a set of Aluminum cups and Carl Andrews' dvd a few days ago(this is my first cups/balls purchase other than the little plastic cups). Hope this was a good purchase.
