Tenyo's Eye of the Idol springs to mind. Excellent trick with lots of opportunity for creative patter and to give an interesting story.

sandwhich outdone (cutting edge with cards and coins)
you pick a card the card turns into the two jokers you then pick another card and one for me the magicician the mag. then puts the second selection and puts it back into the midle of the deck the each and one of the jokers visually goes down to middle of the deck to find the card
then the cards are spresad in the hands and andthe card is traped in between the two jokers thenthe deck is put aside
you are leftwith my face down selection that not even the magician has seen it it's turn over and is the soul mate of the second selected card by the spectator.
then the two jokers are transformed into the other two selections so now a four of a kind is on the table
you then spread the deck to find the two jokers and the first selected in between them
everything is examinable

I like to use Nickles to dimes, B-2 Bomber and the Svengali deck. But everyone has their taste.

I prefer gimmickless effects or at the very least effects that are very easy to setup. I spend a lot of time in an office environment so I like impromptu effects. Here are some of my favorites:

ClipTrip by Daniel Garcia (Effect: a straightened paperclip visibly melt downward. Can be handed back immediately to the spectator for inspection. Very Clean)

GhostBills by Andrew Mayne

Pinnacle by Russ Niedzwiecki (Ring and Rubberband effect)

Crazyman's HandCuffs

Sh4de by Daniel Garcia (Gimmickless shadow coins / chink-a-chink / matrix routine)

Believe it or not I'm mostly a card guy, but these are some great impromptu effects that I do on a regular basis.
