I was reading in Corinda's 13 steps the other day about the applications of a memorised deck for mentalism. I had an idea that rather than using a deck of cards why not have say 30 pieces of card with words written on them, or a combination of words symbols and pictures. Basicly things that people can think on at a personal level. This way the mind reading would be a more intimate experiance for them.. you'd have words like home, happiness, anger etc and get them to construct an emotional picture based on what they see. Also using cards roughly the size of postcards would negate the spectators desire to shuffle the cards and if they're plain white on the back it removes the idea that they could be marked.

Anyway i've been using mnemonics to memorise long lists for a while so I could easilly put this together myself but I was just wondering if there was already a product like this on the market which had an easy to remember system.

not that I've heard of, but I do have a mnemonic system that allows me to memorize a deck of cards using 52 words. Actually its 104 words, but the basic application is the same here as you would probably use there. If you memorized the position of each of the 30 or so, then you could easily recall the word. See Derren Brown's Tricks of the Mind for a detailed explanation. It's around page 40.

I can memorise 52 decks of shuffled playing card in less than 10 minutes.
Learn it there;

I also made my own version of the memorised deck, I'm about to make a newer version that is going to be availiable soon.
max.

You could just stack the deck

Yeah, but the spectator couldn't shuffle the decks... and that's the point...
Max.

I'm confused... if you memorize it than it's shuffled.. you can't do the trick... right?

The spectator shuffle the decks, then you memorise them.

The decks are squared back up, and then you call out each cards.
Max.

I actually no a trick where you are handed a shuffled deck riffle through the faces once and call out the top 20 or so cards. I use it as part of a memory based routine i've been working on.
