For those of you that have this DVD, I have a quick question. In the "Smoke" effect, does he teach a version that does not require the special deck (I know which one it is, but might be exposure), or does he simply explain that you have to get gimmicked deck?

He only explains with the JKMP deck.

Does he teach the workings of the deck? Is it possible to make one?

Technically it is possible to make, but it is cheaper and easier to buy it.

Dan, glad you've joined us.

It's much easier to just buy the deck. It's more economical. It's pretty inexpensive too, considering how easy it is to use and how strong the effect is.

He also teaches this effect in "Pure Effect" (out of print), and I agree, it is much easier to just buy the deck.

Would it be difficult to make the deck (lots of materials)??? Or is it simply costly? And by watching Devil's Picturebook, will I get an idea of how to make one?

From what I know of the deck, it would be very difficult. If you got DP you would understand how it worked but making one would be very difficult and you would need to utilize some techniques from 'the art of card splitting'. The MP deck is not an arrangement of cards, the cards are actually gaffed.

You can't make them through card splitting. You could technically, but it would be really obvious.

I had a feeling that would be the case.

if you're capable, you could use normal cards and do a deck switch, but then the effect is not clean. To create the deck with normal cards may be the same cost of just buying the proper deck. get the deck, it's totally worth it.
