Are there any really good mentalism books??

13 Steps to Mentalism is probably the best book. You just need to be creative. Almost every mental effect that has been created is based upon the methods used in 13 Steps.

Anything by Patrick Redford is really good.

If you can find them, any of the five volumes of The Mental Magick of Basil Horwitz. These books are great and have been mentioned by some of the top performers (like Derren Brown) as one of their inspirations. You can still find some of the volumes, but not all of them are available anymore.

Check out Richard Osterlind's series too for some good material.

And also like Lumas said 13 steps is the best book.

What series?

It doesn't matter. Anything he writes is good.

Anything Osterlind puts out is good. Osterlind's material is stuff that he uses and tests for up to 20 years sometimes before he puts it out. Today, mentalists create something and release it within a year (if even that long). I only read old material now as I find it 100x better than the junk that is now being released and is a much better value.

If you can find Dynamic Mysteries by Richard Osterlind, then pick that up. It usually goes for like $10.00 or so on auction sites as I believe it is now out of print.

Hm, who here ran out and purchased the Basil Horwitz books?? I see H and R only has 1 left in Volume 1 and all the other volumes are sold out....
