In my opinion when talking mentalism, the "tricks" or the equipment is not the best way to approach it. I highly recommend learning the techniques involved in this branch. The recent wave of videos is the best! the top of the heap should contain the videos by MAX MAVEN, LARRY BECKER and BOB CASSIDY. Get these and you'll have hours and hours of teaching right from the best in biz.

As far as effects that require that special can't make it at home gimmick, I recently have fallen in love with my new Masters Time Machine. The construction is top quality and the effect can be done ANYWHERE, ANY TIME. No susspicious looking props, just great mental magic that gets a REAL reaction everytime!

I have to agree on Becker & Maven, and throw in my fav: Banachek. I dont have the Masters (yet, but we'll see if my prediction is right for the 6th...) but the original Time Machine is still one of my best, and few "prop" pieces for Mentalism.

Wow, thats tough to say. I'd go with Osterlind DVD #1 or #2.

I wish i could get magic makers to make a custom Masters time machine so it could be in my Jacob and Sons bling watch.
Then with no doubt would there be suspicion of a gimmick.
