dose practicle mental magic look any good??? what are some of the tricks you can do??

I don't own it but I remember Syntax5 and Mattisdx both bought it and had about the same comments. "This is a great book, and for $10, you can't go wrong." It was something like that. I'd pick it up.

Ted Annemann is a father of modern mentalism. He created and edited the landmark magazine The Jinx until his death in the 1940s. Some of the best items from The Jinx are collected in this book by Dover, which, as has been mentioned above, is an absolute steal.

In India you dont get too many books on Mentalism as there are almost no performing mentalists that I know of.Corinda(13 steps) and Jinx(Annemann) and Barie Richardsons Theatre of the mind seem to me good buys.I also need more info on books especially the ancient variety like Al bakers (mental Magic) and am ready to buy Burling Hulls Encyclopedia and Nelsons Encyclopedia if I get to where they are avialable and whether they are worth it.I dont get much time off from my profession of a practising specialist Doctor but need advice on making up an act and routining and about books on one liners/comedy etc., and may be some day I could be famous(but not necessarily rich) ! If you've got The Jinx, 13 Steps, and Theater of the Mind, you already have enough for an act.

If you'd like additional effect resources, there are plenty out there -- I'm always returning to Waters' Mind, Myth & Magick. Also valuable are Becker's Stunners, Lesley's Paramiracles, The Secret Ways of Al Baker (includes his Mental Magic plus pretty much everything else this visionary wrote), Max Maven's Videomind series, the Desert Brainstorm video series, and Psychological Subtleties by Banachek.

As for comedy, don't read about it. If you're naturally funny, then use the humor you're comfortable with, that comes from within you and the experiences you share with an audience. Using canned lines from a joke book can only lead to second-rate performances.

What it really sounds like you need is advice about structuring an act. For that, I can steer you toward nothing more valuable than Chuck Hickok's Mentalism Incorporated. Get it.

It's better to get The Jinx; Practical Mental Magic is just abbreviated highlights of it.

Secrets of the Amazing Kreskin is a good book. Deals a lot with suggestion which anyone can integrate into their routine. Lots of ways to put suggestion to use if you have a good imagination and it will help you create some strong mentalism or magic.

I have one of Kreskins books-How to be a fake Kreskin and I dont find anything significantly new in it except for a few stunts in pseudo-hypnotism and cant say about the practicality.It wasnt worth the money I spent or may be Iam one of the so called advanced Magi and found it below my level.
