There are two amazing book/magazine tests on Max Maven's Videomind DVDs, both of which require very little in the way of set-up and both use ungimmicked books. They are my favourites so far, because of the ungimmicked-ness of them

dont you need a specific book to perform Maven's book test?

On one of his book tests you need a specific TYPE of book, and he gives you an example (that will work) which you can buy from Amazon or other big book sellers. The book is ungimmicked, and it is an extremely clever effect. The other book test (actually done with magazines) requires pretty much any magazine, which you can buy from a shop right before you perform the effect if you want! It's ungimmicked.

Good luck, the DVDs are worth the money just for the book tests, but the rest of the material is also phenomenal

I was worried when i ordered them if they were any good. I couldn't really find any reviews on magic cafe about it. Saw the video on penguin and i was like i remember seeing this guy before. So i ordered'em ... had to get my order up over so i could get my free watch Should be here soon. (darn holiday)
