Corinda's 13 Steps to Mentalism discusses a number of gimmicks that are very inexpensive. The book itself is well under $30 itself, so does that count?

Perhaps Docc Hilford's Cassandra Deck and the booklet Fem Fatale that accompanies it...? I've heard nothing but good things about the X-pert, as well, so that'd be on the list as well (it's on mine, just waiting for payday).

I do own a Cassandra deck, and I do a short routine with it:

1) Someone looks at a card as I flip through the deck and I begin to describe someone in their life that the card represents, eventually divining the person in their life who is on their mind and also the card they selected. (20 questions, it's called)

2) Tossed deck: Three, four, even five people look at cards within the deck that I've rubber banded and tossed out to them, and I reveal those cards one at a time.

3) Poker demo: The spectator cuts the pack and deals a poker hand to me and one to themselves. They then think of one of their five cards. I divine each card they're not thinking of one at a time, taking the card and showing it after each, until they're left with the thought of card, which I also name.

This was in no way bragging, these are simple effects with this deck, it pretty much does the work for you, I just thought I'd give you an idea of what you can do with it...

Yeah, I would also recommend that you get the Xpert. It has so many applications... the possibilities are really only limited by your imagination. Neil you are a genius!

Anyone know anything about Silver Bullet Lite? Its not on this site, but the description sounds too good to be true... and both demos I have seen have this part where the camera cuts away... seems fishy... anyone know anything about it?

Invisible deck is always a killer mentalist gimmick. Hypnotic choice isnt bad either, and its cheap too!

I disagree about die cipher, too many figured mine out before I sold it.

Crazy cube on the other hand, I can only remember perhaps one or two who discovered the method.

Crazy cube is pretty old, I would go with getting a brainwave or invisible deck and the x-pert, which is a great utility device that packs tiny, looks normal, and plays huge.
