I may be doing a magic show for my school variety show (or talent show  )

What would be good tricks to do in front of a school? I have a lot of card tricks and coin tricks and The Hummers Whirling Card. I may be buying more stuff from Penguin that I want but what are other good tricks to get?

Thanks :D

Since you have hummer card, use the IT for Steve Fearsons hook-up. Penguin doesn't sell it, but you can see it here http://www.downloadmagic.com/levitate_objects.htm

Obviously, you'd use something besides the cigarette, like a tootsie roll or something. Hope that helps.

Card tricks in general are usually a bad idea.

Yes. You're right. Especially for a talent show where there will be many students, and they couldnt quite make out the card that your holding up.

Listen,
Assuming that this talent show isnt very soon. Here are somethings you can invest in...

-Appearing straw/10'pole
-Vanishing Kethcup Bottle
-Airborne *Floating Cup*

Things that students usually dont see on magicians perform on television. Or at Las Vegas.

For my talent show what should I get on Penguin? Hummer card? (don't have yet) SPUN? Gutbuster? I might be able to do two. Gutbuster and SPUN? or Hummer and Gutbuster. Suggestions on tricks please.

well spun wouldnt be too good for stage, either is hummingbird card. gutbuster also wouldnt work too well, but you could at least pull that off on stage better than the other 2

You should look into Andrew Mayne's Face Lifter and Bisection the instuctions are cheap and you could make a great routine with them.
Together they are like 30 bucks.

Look into it.

Have a Good Time with it.

O yah i wouldn't recommend doing card unless it would be a manipulation act as in Back palming and stuff of that sort.

If you talent show is liek 3 to 5 months depending on your learning capablity that would be great to do. But lots of magicians do this on tv. If you want to learn it pick up some jeff mcbride's Dvd. Also for the andrew mayne illusion i listed do a google search and you should find them i think bisection is on here though.

Thanks

SEan

I'll give the routine for a talent show I performed in 3 years ago.

-Appearing/Dissapearing Cards (Backpalm) and card throws
-Appearing 10 foot straw routine
-Vanishing Silk routine with mouth coils finish
-Zombie
-Bisection (Andrew Mayne)

BTW, I happened to win.

Say if you were wearing the gimmick for gutbuster (at a talent show) and you go up on stage. Then can you pull someone from the audience to put their hand in your stomach or do they have to know how to do it to be able to put their hand inside?

If you plan on putting on a good solid show, you're going to have to look past penguin for some of the props.

You don't seem like you have a lot of time to perform for your talent show. How much time do they give you?
I mean serously appearing and vanishing can can take minute to perform same with gut buster.

How much time will you get?
