correction...only do kidshows if you WANT to do kidshows...because if you don't...you will be unsuccessful all around!

That's the best advice, Kyle. And dont buy random tricks if you do decide to perform.

Skate13-
Check out the Kids Show forum. Read up on some of the other posts from kids your age looking to get into kids show magic.
Some of the repsonds are a bit harsh but truthful. In there is also alot of good suggestions on tricks, presentation, books and videos you can purchase.
I understand that not every one has the money to go out and but a boat load of materiel, even a book might be a bit much.
But, check your local library and see what they have. Also see if there is a Society of Young Magicians group that meets near you. I know that alot of these clubs (sometimes even a IBM or SAM club) have video and book exchange programs (we will talk another day about if this is ethical or not) where you can borrow books on magic from some of the more advanced magicians.
If you have a few dollars I suggest (like some others before me) picking up-
Magic Coloring Book (always great, not to much money and you can get 10 good minutes out of this routine)
Color Changing Ball to Jumbo Square. Its cheap, small but in the right hands is a awesome trick for a b-day show

Well, he either has no routines and just performs trick after trick, so, he's looking for routines, or he wants better routines. He's probably been told he's good but that he should add a little more 'presentation' to it.

I answered him more thoroughly in the kid's section as he's re-started this thread over there.
