Hey Guys,
I am planning my act for next February's school talent show. I am going to make this show amazing which is why I am already plannng. Last time I was on vacation and didn't really have time to plan. I am thinking about using these effects.

I will walk out carrying a lit torch, then i will grab part of the flame and throw it across stage. This will pop the balloon and a live dove will appear. Then the torch will dissapear. I will grab my dove from scarf and produce another dove. Then I will either use my mini cargo cage or mirror box to produce another dove. Then I will do doves to rabbit and hold the rabbit up and show it. I think I will add one more big effect at the end but I dont know what yet.

I will wear my custom tailored red and black tux tail with black tux pants. What do you guys think of my act for next years talent show?

Wow, that's the best 3-minute-show I've ever heard about.

Lit torches and throwing fire will get you more trouble than it's worth.

agreed. ALOT of places have strict policies about using fire.
It's best to find out beforehand if the venue allows that type of thing or not.

I actually like it... except for the fire part, that might not go over too well. Make sure to get a video of this. I think a tux might be overdoing it a little, but if that's what you think would go well with your personality and performance style, go for it. Good luck!

I agree. If you're allowed to do the fire part, then that would be great. Oh, and yes, do make a video!

It seems alright, however, it's just too much in such a short time. There really isn't a build up, or time to relax between effects. You're just going to bombard the audience with way too much in a short period of time.

I agree, no establishment in their right mind will allow you to use the fire.

I would scratch that.

I think it sounds great. Just check on the fire as others have pointed out.

And if each act a person does is to be only a couple of minutes (as many talent shows allow only this length), then you really don't have time for a build-up nor is it needed. Many magic shows by professionals open up in a similar manner as what your act seems to be. No build-up, just straight into the magic, and it works. On Lance Burton's talent show not too long ago, a young contestant won or came close to winning and his 4-5 minute act was straight magic, no build-up or nothing, just a powerful and classy straight-to-magic performance.

Hope it goes well.
