Paul Osbourne has a lot of books and ideas...but the plans are as good as a PHOTOCOPIED AND SPIRAL BOUND book as you get, with the exception that the plans are almost completely incomprehensible with spelling and grammatical errors all over the place. If some nut job decided to take 1 look at the books, they would discover the garbage presented in a book that retails for 30 x the price you would pay to make it yourself. (Seriously, don't waste your money on Paul's stuff, get something written in English).
I am not saying that his illusions are bad, i am just stating the obvious, and giving a future customer the "heads up" before they decide to spend a lot of money on purchasing his books. Mark Wilson's Encyclopedia of Magic has FAR better PLANS than Paul.
Oh, and in response to the original question, stuff to buy = Rings (Either get 10" or Ninja Rings, nothing else), 1,000,000 meters of rope, (whoops, sorry America, i mean 3 280 839.895 feet), the coolest set of cups and balls, jumbo cards.
You can never go wrong with JUMBO anything... and i mean anything.
paul osborne is the best out there
